Nunovalenki is the showcase of Valerie May’s felting.  Amazing dog and cat brooches, fabulous scarves, baby shoes and more, all hand designed and hand made from new wool fleece roving into felt.  Valerie uses a variety of  different fleece- merino, Icelandic, Jacobs, alpaca, Wensleydale, as well as silk tops.

Felting is a traditional and natural method of making wool into clothing items,  jewellery and decorative pieces without weaving, knitting or sewing. The process can make items of great softness or durability, from delicate shawls to robust footwear, and even tents.

Valerie started with Scarves, moved onto Shawls and now produces Brooches, Necklaces , Baby boots and odd flights of whimsy, her “Wonders“. Please explore.

NUNO felting is a Japanese felting technique which melds wool fibre onto a sheer fabric, often silk chiffon (which I use).  VALENKI are traditional Russian winter footwear – felt boots.  Valenki literally means “made by felting”. Valerie is Valerie: hence the name.. Nuno..Val..enki

Everything on this site is handmade from the natural components. We can’t guarantee that the items will be exactly as shown, or even as described;  some descriptions are of art and are matters of opinion.  Colours are colours and sometimes colours do look a little different in real life, compared to the pictures posted here – but we try to be as close to reality as we can.  And, we are sorry, but sometimes some items will have been sold before we realise it, and it really has to be first come first served.

If you buy anything that you are not happy with we will be glad to refund you in full as long as the item has not been worn, (see Terms and Conditions), or if you have bought something that has just been sold we will be happy to make another for you, as close to what you want as is possible with hand crafted things. Or we will refund you totally.

The plus side of this wibble is that we hope we can make you very happy with a totally unique item which nobody else has, and if we can’t, we will make sure you are not out of pocket. We hope you agree that is fair dealing.
