FAQs
EXACTLY THE SAME?
Are all your items exactly as they appear on your website?
We cannot guarantee that the items will be exactly as shown, as colour is especially difficult to duplicate on different monitors. Everything on this site has been individually made by hand from natural fibres and the images are as accurate as we can get them.
DO I GET THE SCARF IN THE PHOTO?
Will I be buying the item pictured?
Usually yes. I will let you know before I send it, if it is not. I will inform you of any differences and even send you a new photo if you wish.
ALTERNATIVE COLOURS
Can I order a scarf/corsage/dog brooch in a different colour?
Yes, as long as I have the colours in stock, I should be able to help you. Sometimes I may even have another item in stock already made up, which hasn’t yet been put on the site. If you need a very specific colour match, I will need a reference to work from. A sample from you is usually the easiest way to achieve this.
DOG COMMISSIONS
Can I order a brooch to look like my dog?
This is not always as easy as it sounds, but I can try! I will however need some good photographs to work from, especially a profile of your dog standing. There will be an extra cost for this service though.
TIME
How long will it take you to make a new item for me?
It could take me anything from a week to a month, depending on what it is, my schedule and whether I have the right colours in stock.
IT’S NOT WHAT I WANTED
What happens if I don’t like it?
I am sure you will be happy with your purchase. If for any reason, the item is not what you were expecting, please e-mail me immediately, so that we can work through the problem. You will then need to return it to me within 7 days, un-used and in a perfect condition, and I will refund your money.
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
How do I wash my scarf?
Go to Washing Instructions page for full details
NEVER wash in a washing machine.
Hand wash your scarf in warm water using a mild soap. Rinse well in cold water and gently squeeze out the excess moisture. Lay it on a towel, carefully re-shape and then roll up in the towel to absorb as much water as possible. Air dry, and then cover with a cloth and steam iron.
WHAT WOOL DO YOU USE?
What is Merino wool?
I use Merino wool tops for my scarves and corsage, which are also embellished with Mulberry silk. I source this wool from a very reputable company in Yorkshire. All of the Merino wool tops I use is produced from unbleached scoured wools and sourced from highly reputable companies who ensure that the dyes used are all non toxic and no harmful substances are used in the process. Care should be taken with small children to avoid them eating the fibres, which is probably the only risk!
I use Corriedale wool for needlefelting my brooches, and will them add extra wool such as alpaca, Jacob’s locks, merino, mohair and Wensleydale for curls, long hair, shine for embellishment.
WHAT IS “ECO” FELT?
Is this really what happens to re-cycled plastic bottles?
“Eco” felt is produced from re-cycled plastic bottles, which are first colour sorted, cleaned, crushed and chopped into flakes. These flakes are then liquefied and made into a variety of products, including felt. Nifty or what!
“Eco” felt is nothing like the fuzzy felt shapes some of us played with as children. It is soft, supple and hard wearing and brilliant to sew with.
